This will be in some respects DC's take on an Underdark environment (though there won't be any Drow per se :P ).

Wait, so my character concept of a good-hearted ranger rising to heroic deeds from a background of murderous underground-dwelling evil dark-skinned race and killing everything with two scimitars and his panther animal companion Gwenh-er... Gary, might not pan out?  Aw...

Honestly, it sounds like a challenging new step and just full of potential!

Hooray for races with Darkvision!  :D

I'll be playing a char with darkvision for sure. My craptastic videocard hates light like plague.

well, speak for yourselves! I haven't played a race with darkvision for any serious period, and I don't intend to start now! So there!!
I will, however, be breaking my rule of always playing humans  ::)

...now, where's Durak? I expected him to post within the first page.

Durak has passed out from the excitment.

Don't worry folks, he's currently recuperating on a drip-feed of Dwarven literature and is expected to make a full recovery in time for DC5.

One interesting possibility that strikes me, thay you guys may or may not have thought of...are some areas that the tunnels are only big enough that Gnomes and Halflings can go through. Gnomes often get little love, just a possible way of making for an area or two that fit the concept and have a really special feel.

Not that I'll play one...humans forever!  :P

The Depths of Norhaven

No one knows why the great dragon Grehta, who had long served as stewardess of the Mirror, broke from her sacred duty. After the Mezzerachtine wars, she quietly marshaled her forces and, using the power she was sworn to safeguard, unleashed a bitter and terrible Ice Age upon the surface world, beginning her conquest of all the lands of Arafean. Her attacks were brutal and decisive. Those who would survive her wrath would find shelter in the underground, where it was still warm.

Avera's Hope is a fledgeling colony of freedom and growing faith in the young religion of the One True God, Eleudis. They are ex-slaves, escaped convicts, and gypsies - outcasts who bend a knee to none. Then there are the Warrens, a tangle of tunnels deep in the ground within which the wondrous lost city of Elothos was found and around which the macabre Sect of Eloth has formed. Since the discovery of an old lost god, they have grown increasingly insular and mistrustful.

Avera's Hope and Elothos both have definite possibilities for my current character concept.  I will watch to see if more tidbits about them are revealed.
When in doubt, reality has it wrong

I can't seem to help but check this thread every half hour in unrealistic hopes of more awesomeness popping up.   ::)

Well, my character concept wasn't anything that relied on specific setting info, but I have to say I'm still chewing at the bit for more dwarf info.  :D    Great stuff so far!

Remember how Hellcow told you that you would want pants?

Haha, nooooo it's a lie! Sincor Thrasbo is gone forever!

Anyway, I've had my sights set on a ranger, and you guys tell me we're in an underground setting? Great. Now I have to be evil. CHAOTIC EVIL.
