So some personalization is possible eh? Time to start designing my glyphs.

Quote
*    Glyph of Fear: Enemies in the area are afflicted with fear as the Fear spell.

Quote
*    Glyph of Chaos: Creates a zone of chaos full of swirling arcane energy. All creatures inside the zone have -20 Concentration and take 3d6 damage per round they remain inside

Quote
*    Glyph of Pandemonium: Creates a conflagration, dealing irresistable fire damage each round to all creatures inside.

Beatrice Cane: Professional Coffin Maker and General Carpenter. Composer of the Songs for Shadowdancing. Author of Cane's Fairy-tales. Missing, presumed despondent.

Glyphs require no extra skill to use. They can be interrupted by a failed concentration check if you take damage while scribing. They can be used in full armor without penalty and/or while silenced.

a cool angle for a magic user indeed!

Yay for more questions!
Do Wyrm and Witch Hunters view themselves as distinct professions/traditions/hobbies/whatever?  Or do they see each other as belonging to the same peer group?  For that matter, is there any formal acknowledgment at all that their repertoire of glyphs is different?

Probably a better question: would a specific hunter make the distinction that he is a Witch Hunter, rather than just a Hunter.

My question here is whether it is possible that some would consider Hunters themselves magic users, as they are using glyphs to invoke spell-like effects. Is there any prevailing attitude on the subject?

I think that was already pretty much answered either here or on the Convocation thread....to a 'commoner' who knows nothing of things magical/arcane a Hunter using a glyph would seem to be using 'magic'. If the same commoner then saw someone using Truespeaking then yes, they'd notice there was a diff, but both are 'magic'.
The thing that might confuse a 'commoner' is that they might know of Hunters from reputation and fear them, but not know they use 'magic', so would not think a guy using a glyph was a Hunter?!

The question wasn't "would they be perceived as mages" though.  It was "Are they actually mages."  To be honest, I've started writing about five different responses ranging from "maybe" to "maybe not," but really it's all speculation on my part, some of which tainted by my thoughts on PnP DnD, which doesn't necessarily have anything to do with DC. . . so. . . *shrugs*

Personally, I wouldn't expect Hunters to be using their glyphs around common folk much, as they generally only use them when in danger. It won't be like a sorcerer using a spell to light the camp fire.

I don't know what visual effect Chevy is going to be using, but there is no reason that activating a glyph would look anything like someone casting a spell.

I just got myself curious... are hunters purely human or do they have any race (except those they think are dragon bloods?) in their ranks?  I mean... could the following races be hunters, and if so, how common would they be?

Human (I think are obviously the most common?):
Elf:
Half Elf:
Dwarf:

Maybe less common but could these be hunters also?
Half Orc/Orc:
Kobald:
Czard:

Other?:

Hunters are a CHOSEN WAY OF LIFE, not a guild/faction/whatever you may call it. Anyone can choose to be a hunter and go after what they consider to be the depths most dangerous foes.

To put it in OOC terms, it's a Prestige Class that has no pre-requisites for race.

I think there's no "common" race for hunters, it's a PrC that any one can pick. A hunter can be -anything-, but humans will probally be the most "common" race as it's what the players choose to play.
It's more based on what the players choose to do, who know maybe we'll end up with a dozen gauth or gnome hunters! It's impossible to say about a PrC, and usually people think: What race has the best stats for the PrC? :P
