Becoming a member of the DM staff is done by invitation only and is based on our observations of you as a player. You may make the administrators aware that you would like to be a DM if you wish, but the assumption is that everybody does. Since it has been asked a number of times now, here are some of the traits we look for:-Creativity. We feel the potential DM is an excellent roleplayer. They have played a character that is interesting and have made a positive impact on the server. Being able to write well is a big plus. If you can't write well, you can't narrate a story.-Amiability. A potential candidate should be friendly and not one who is frequently involved in OOC conflicts.-Maturity. This encompasses many aspects of how the potential DM conducts themselves.-Availability. The potential DM will have to have enough time to DM here regularly. Also, DC caters to both North American and European time zones, so occasionally we look for DMs for a particular zone. Here are some things that we don't care so much about:-Seniority. While we do value our longtime players, it is not a deciding factor in DM selection.-DMing credentials. Lots of people have DM'd other servers or PnP sessions. It's not really an indicator of how good they are at it.-D&D rules familiarity. Some is nice, but creativity is more important. NWN takes care of most of the rules under the hood. Please don't send me or anybody else on the staff a PM telling us how you fulfill these things. As mentioned at the top, DM selection is done by invitation based on our observations. If you think you would make a good DM, show us in the manner you play your character.
But anyhow rambling about my former sex life aside...
